The Toilette of Venus is a provincial toile with a focus on beauty. When asked to design a pattern about the beauty industry, I looked to the painting from the School of Titian, Toilette of Venus. It makes perfect sense that the goddess of beauty may need a little help from time to time. The cosmetic industry goes back a long time. Surely, Venus knew where to find a little lipstick.
